General purpose wire rope is a category that includes the most commonly sold / used constructions, including 6×19, 6×25 & 6×26. It is typically used for making slings, chokers and winch lines. In certain applications–usually in larger diameters–it is also used as a crane line (when spin-resistant properties are not needed). You can often use it interchangeably with GAC, but it has no specific corrosion protection aside from its inherent (typically black) greasy finish.
- General purpose wire rope, a best-seller
- 6×19 class, includes 6×19, 6×25 and 6×26 variations
- Made from Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS) with an Independent Wire Rope Center (IWRC)
- Great for slings, chokers, winch lines and even crane lines
